Adam Michael has this to say “The aroma on my skin is classic sandalwood, slowly exuding warm, balsamic and masculine, woody, slightly sweet, creamy and diffusive qualities. I do detect a sharp pine needle and citrus infused top note which fades out fast but that aside I cannot fault this material at all. As I write 05/01/15 I think this material on drying out is reminiscent of a very good decade old Indian Sandalwood, very vintage and very beautiful. The aroma possess more of the natural character of the timber than that of the steam distilled material. Whilst the process of collecting the steam distilled sandalwood involves boiling the timber in water for upto 7 days, this material is collected via CO2 extraction within no more than 2 hours at room temperature (20-30C).
Sandalwood oil is used extensively in natural perfumery as a harmonising agent, base note and fixative. It helps to bring together other oils, holding the scent of other lighter oils that tend to dissipate quickly. Produced from the heartwood of the Western Australian grown Santalum spicata, of a pourable viscosity and the colour is a honey sunshine yellow. Some of the major constituents are as follows, 32.7% (cis)-a-santalol, 7.1% (trans)-a-bergamotol, 3.1% (trans,trans)-farnesol, 2.3% epi-b-santalol and 12.0% (cis)-b-santalol.”
