Natural iris (or orris) notes are rare and natural violet notes are virtually unknown, with the honourable exception of violet leaf absolute, which contains traces of the violet floral but is dominated by green. A violet flower absolute was once available but it is thought that it was last produced commercially in about 1902. So if you want violet notes today you need to look at synthetics and isolates instead and fortunately there are several to choose from.

So here we have collected together some of the most widely used, and some rather unusual, violet and iris notes to help you build exceptional florals and enhance your fruity notes.
